Resistance against traditional forms of notetaking
Top-down architectures require a systematic approach to understanding the information that is part of the system
Note Hierarchy
Seeds
I like to think of these notes as ‘encounters’ as they reflect the swath of information we encounter on a day to day basis and are thus the most abundant of all types of notes in the garden.
Think of these as a new topic, or an interesting fact that you recently came across. These notes will serve as a foundation to further grow these ideas into more comprehensive and thought out notes.
Saplings
It’s time to cultivate and water our existing notes. As we continue to encounter more information, we build on top our existing notes with good intentions.
Evergreens
These notes represent the strongest notes that have been diligently cultivated for a significant amount of time. Hallmarks of evergreen notes include the following:
- Highly atomic - Evergreens encapsulate their topic without needing external supports for a complete understanding
- Densely connected - Evergreen notes leverage linkages to connected related notes together
